Utility Risk Planning - Past, Present, and Future, September 7, 2021

This one-day workshop will explore utility risks and how to prepare and mitigate them. It is not a workshop focusing on processes and procedures. Instead, the objectives are to discuss “learnings” from actual utility risks that emerged and to plan for future potential risk events.

NWPPA/NRECA BLC 955.1 Your Board's Culture: It's Impact on Effectiveness, September 7, 2021

Directors have official responsibilities but they also tend to conform to the unique culture of their boardroom. Some cultures can promote board effectiveness, but others lead to conflict, complacency or similar counterproductive behaviors. This course explains the concept of boardroom culture through an examination of real board case studies and discusses why directors should understand and monitor their own boardroom cultures.

Conference Overview:

After more than a year of virtual meetings and online challenges, we are very excited to announce that we will be celebrating—in person—resilience at NWPPA’s 81st Annual Conference in Kennewick, Wash.

Our Annual Conference is an ideal learning and networking opportunity for a broad array of utility personnel. It will be a great opportunity to hear from your peers and other leaders who are cognizant of the public power mission and charting the future of our industry. It is also a time to celebrate; first by honoring extraordinary colleagues at the awards luncheon and then by recognizing the exquisite culture of the area at an evening banquet.

In the interest of your utility, your members, employees, and communities, don’t miss this exciting in-person learning and networking opportunity where outstanding speakers, panelists, experts, and your peers will share their rich knowledge and experience. Join the reunion in Kennewick!

COVID-19 Measures:

As we continue to monitor and evaluate COVID-19 levels in the Tri-Cities area, we understand that the health and safety of our members, staff, and the community are of highest concern. We are asking everyone to do their part. Currently for our 81st Annual Conference in Kennewick, September 7-9, we have the following measures in place, subject to change as conditions demand:

  • NWPPA and local venues will follow applicable federal, state, and local health protocols.
  • The Three Rivers Convention Center will be asking all attendees, vaccinated and unvaccinated, to wear masks, and masks will be readily available for all.
  • There will be social-distancing space arrangements in this large facility, with some portions (including at the REACH Museum) flowing to outside spaces as well.
  • There will be hand-sanitizing stations located throughout the facility.
  • The Three Rivers Convention Center staff, including servers, will be wearing masks.
  • We are asking all attendees to evaluate their own health and that of anyone with whom they are in close contact within 14 days of the event, and to contact us if they have any concern.
  • Anyone who has been exposed or is showing symptoms ahead of the event should not attend and will automatically receive a full refund of their registration fee.
  • Anyone experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms during the event must immediately self-quarantine and notify NWPPA staff.
Assumption of Risk: COVID-19 has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. It is not possible for NWPPA or anyone else to completely prevent the presence of the disease. Therefore, if you choose to attend a conference organized by NWPPA and voluntarily enter onto premises where its conference is held, you are accepting the risk, without right of claim against NWPPA and its directors, employees, or agents, of being exposed to, contracting, and/or spreading COVID-19 and its variants.
