Staking Technician Certification Program: Easement Acquisition, November 5-6, 2020
Course Overview:
This three-day course is part of the comprehensive staking technician program. It will teach students the basic and advanced methods of line route surveying. This course also includes a basic overview of GPS and its application to line design and staking. To complete the study, the student will learn how to transfer both paper and electronic field data to hand drawings or computer-aided drafting programs.
Portions of this class are held outside; please dress for inclement weather and undeveloped terrain.
Also note that if you are able to bring a transit, tripod, or both, it would be appreciated. This will assist the group by not having to wait as long to share transits.
Course Objectives:
Students will learn how to:
- Make accurate distance measurements
- Turn and dissect line angles
- Measure changes in elevation
- Conduct a complete point survey using a total station

Course Schedule:
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on day one; the class will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on all three days. Lunch, as well as morning and afternoon breaks, will be provided on all three days.

Parking: $12 local and overnight
Complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport is available. The shuttle leaves the hotel every 20 minutes from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m. Follow the "courtesy vehicle" signs in baggage claim. The white DoubleTree shuttle displays a large #1 in the front window.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations are accepted, with full refund, if request is made at least 30 days prior to the course. Within 30 days, fees are as follows: 15-29 days, $100; 1-14 days or "no show," 100 percent of registration fee. When possible, please send a substitute instead of canceling. NWPPA does not charge a fee for substitutions.
Continuing Hours:
This course qualifies for 18 continuing hours. Certificates are issued upon full completion of the course.
