Women in Public Power is a learning conference that provides developmental opportunities for women in five critical areas of success: knowing yourself, creating connections, managing communications, building confidence, and strengthening resilience.

      Dr. Ginny Whitelaw, CEO of the Institute for Zen Leadership and President of Focus Leadership

      The FEBI is a personality assessment and coaching tool that measures four fundamental energy patterns linking mind, body and behavior. Ginny will debrief the assessment and lead us through exercises that build our resilience.

      Everyone has a story. We weave our way through our life and career by leaping at an opportunity, taking a risk, a push or pull from a mentor, or even by accident. Tina will talk about her experience. Listen carefully because it could sound familiar.

    3:10-4:30 p.m. The Big Bold Dream: From Seventh Grade Dreams to NASA Astronaut

      Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger, Consulting Geologist, Geosyntec Consultants

      As an earth science teacher at Hudson Bay High School in Vancouver Wash., Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger saw her chance. She flew on Shuttle Mission STS-131 in April 2010 where she logged 362 hours in space; served as the flight engineer (MS2), an Intra-Vehicular Activity crewmember for three spacewalks, and shuttle robotic arm operator; and set a record with four women in space. Now she’s going to hang out with us and tell her bold story about fulfilling an audacious dream. Ready?

Conference Schedule:

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. on the first day; the conference will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day, and will be followed by a networking reception beginning at 5 p.m. The second day will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch, as well as morning and afternoon breaks, will be provided both days.

The hotel's cancellation policy is 72 hours prior to arrival. Reservations cancelled within 72 hours prior to arrival will be assessed one night's room and tax.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations are accepted, with full refund, if request is made at least 30 days prior to the course. Within 30 days, fees are as follows: 15-29 days, $100; 1-14 days or "no show," 100 percent of registration fee. When possible, please send a substitute instead of canceling. NWPPA does not charge a fee for substitutions.

This conference qualifies for 11 continuing hours. Certificates are issued upon full completion of the conference.
