Discussion and decision-making are the heart of the board’s work, yet often they are challenging. Robert’s Rules of Order has surprising answers on these topics. This workshop provides the tools, tips and guidelines to ensure effective discussion and better decisions. Essential information for chairs and board members.

Apply the principles of the authority of the chair, members, and staff correctly.
Hold productive and fair discussion, even when opinions differ.
Use motions and amendments efficiently for better decision-making.
Create a board culture where all opinions are welcome, and the board follows the will of the majority.

Webinar will begin at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, and the class will run from 10:00 am to noon.
Webinar Fees:
Utility Member Rate: $150
Associate Member Rate: $225
Non-member Rate: $300
Note: Organizations that register a group of employees will receive every fifth registration for free. For example, if you register five employees, you only pay for four; register 10 employees, you only pay for eight; and so on. There is nothing additional you need to do to receive this discount.
Cancellation Policies:
For webinars, virtual classes, and section meetings: cancellation at least five days prior to the event, full refund; within 1-4 days or no show, 100% of the registration fee.
For in-person events: cancellation at least 30 days prior to the event, full refund; within 15-29 days, $100 fee; and within 1-14 days or no show, 100% of the registration fee.
When possible, please send a substitute instead of canceling; NWPPA does not charge a fee for substitutions. To request a refund, please contact registration@nwppa.org, or call (360) 254-0109.
Continuing Hours:
This course qualifies for 2 continuing hours. Certificates are available online upon full completion of the course.
